Have you ever experienced night? You know, the blessed few hours of the day when the overbearing tenacity of the sun is muted by the screaming black that envelops the sky? When the pinpricks of light above us form sinister grins and laughing animals with unblinking eyes? When the jealous god of the moon topples the podium and declares fleeting victory?

Have you ever driven a car at midnight down a road that doesn't seem to grasp the concept of the finite? Where streetlights are an anachronism and your headlights are crudely constructed flashlights in a toddler's hand? Quick, look down. 12:01. Back up. Look at the road. Now back down. 2:10. Where time crawls and races and paces and drawls away in an accent you just can't quite place?

I don't know where I am, but I hope I reach there by morning.
